ETHENEA now a signatory of the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment

Munsbach, 4th December 2017 – ETHENEA Independent Investors, the Luxembourg-based asset management company that manages the Ethna Funds, today announced that it has become a signatory of the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment. Governed by six principles for responsible investment, the PRI supports its international network of signatories to incorporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into their investment decisions and practices.

Signing up to the PRI was a natural progression for ETHENEA, as clients in Europe are increasingly demanding solutions based on responsible investment, says Dominic Nys, ETHENEA’s Global Head of Business Development Services & Marketing.

“ETHENEA has a long-standing commitment to ensuring that our investment practices meet the highest standards in terms of environmental, social, and governance considerations,” he says. “By signing up to the PRI, we have taken a step to formalize this commitment.

“With an increasing number of investors seeking opportunities that are based on ESG principles, we are proud to be a signatory of this global initiative,” he says. “We firmly believe that the six principles set out by the PRI will support our goal of delivering long-term sustainable value for our clients.”

“It’s a pleasure to welcome ETHENEA to the PRI,” said managing director Fiona Reynolds, “and we applaud them for responding to client demand for sustainable investing strategies. We hope this will send a signal to other asset managers of the importance of looking at ESG issues as part of the investment process.”

The PRI initiative is an international network of investors that contribute to developing a more sustainable global financial system. There are currently over 1,800 signatories to the PRI worldwide, from over 50 countries and representing approximately US$70 trillion in assets under management.
